Boeing 777x
Respected ‘Triple-seven’ is the latest generation of the family, and is expected to enter service in 2026. This means that Boeing is now at an infection point where it completes the remaining backlogs of the older version and gears to pump the new generation. According to Boeing data, it has only five orders for the passenger. Boeing 777-300er
After that, the production of 300er of the second generation will stop.

However, these aircraft can never be distributed, and it is possible that the final 777–300er was distributed to Altavair LP in 2024. Boeing also has 78 incomplete orders for the Boeing 777F, so the previous generation 777 will be produced with 777x current generation for some time.
Boeing’s Penal Final 777-300er Order
At the time of writing, Boeing has a total of 604 Boeing 777 on order. These include 83 previous generation Boeing 777 and 521 current-generations 777xs (including fraters). Out of those 83 previous generations, there are 78 fraters and five passengers 777–300ers are slaughtered for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). However, while Boeing listed five 777–300ers as an order by Piya, suspects whether the order will ever be fulfilled.
In 2012, the CH-release reported that the PIA finalized an order for those five 777–300ers and it had obtained operations for five aircraft in addition to the same type. Reporting the time, Pakistani newspaper Dawn said the deal was $ 1.5 billion, and it would increase the airline fleet to 14 boing 777s. After 13 years, they remain on incomplete books.
Boeing 777–300er has been largely out of production for years. In 2015, Boeing gave 76 examples, and it increased to 88 in 2016 before it fell in 2016. In 2017, 65 fell. It rapidly increased to 32 in 2018 and fell to 19 examples in 2019. Since then, Boeing has distributed them to single digits, if all in. A total of four in 2020, seven in 2021, three in 2022, and zero in 2023. One was given in 2024. There are all five Pakistani airplanes built on Boeing’s order book.
Boeing’s last 777-300er delivery
In 2024, Boeing gave an example of Boeing 777–300er. The aircraft was given an aviation lease company Altavair LP. It is possible, or perhaps likely, that the PIA order for the remaining 777–300ers will eventually be written. In January 2025, the air current came to this conclusion, suggesting that the last 777–300er of Boeing was distributed in 2024.
Since 2020, the airplane manufacturer has distributed only 15 passengers 777–300ers. Three were given aroflots, three were given aircraft lease company BOC Aviation, two United Airlines and two to KLM of KLM. Prior to the Western ban on Russia, the aircraft sent to the aeroflot was distributed in 2021. In the same period, a total of 105 Boeing 777F frames were distributed to various customers around the world. In 2024, Boeing distributed 13 777F cargo aircraft.

In the first quarter of 2025, it gave another seven examples of the triple intake freiter, and the only passenger distributed since 2023, 777 Boeing had one for Ultwaire LP. It seems that, like the Boeing 767, 777 is currently being manufactured as a freight aircraft, although 767 is also produced as a military aircraft. If true, the difference in passenger 777 delivery would mean that Boeing will distribute 737, 767, 777 and 787 in 2025, but only 737 and 787 will be distributed as passenger aircraft.

Pakistan International Airlines’ Boeing 777 fleet
Piya ordered four Boeing 777–300ers and took delivery for the first time in December 2007 with the final in January 2007. It currently operates fleet of four 777–300res. According to planespotters.net, these jets are now 17 years old on average, and only two aircraft are in active service. Aircraft registered as AP-BHW and AP-BD have been stored at Karachi International Airport from 2020 and 2021 respectively.
The third aircraft, the registered AP-BHV, is currently undergoing maintenance, but the last flying two weeks ago. The fourth aircraft is currently active. The PIA bought all of the 777 models in the market in 2002, and also operates two 777–200lrs and six 777–200res. These aircraft are currently 20.1 years old on average, and five of them are currently active, with three parks currently parked. Piya is the flag bearer of Pakistan, and its primary hub is in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi.

The airline was established in 1946 in Calcutta, then as Orient Airways in British India. It moved to the new independent Pakistan in 1947, and today, it is the largest airline in Pakistan. However, there are concerns about its safety. In June 2020, the PIA was banned from flying in the European airspace, when the EASA decided that it was unable to certify and oversee its operators and aircraft according to international standards. It was also banned by the UK and the United States, however, in November 2024, the EASA lifted the ban on Piya.
Possible final 777-300er delivery
Altavair is one of the world’s major aircraft leasing companies and was first established in 2003. Since then, it has completed more than $ 13.5 billion in commercial aircraft lease transactions with 94 customers in 40 countries. It consisted of over 300 Boeing and Airbus aircraft, including the direct order of manufacturers (like 777–300er) and 33 freiter conversions. Altavair has a fleet of 24 Boeing 777–300res in its portfolio.
The company is an aviation asset manager that focuses on the acquisition of new and used commercial aircraft to lease domestic and international passenger airlines and cargo operators. It maintains offices in Seattle, Dublin, London and Singapore. The firm sold 33 aircraft in 2024 and also extended leases on 27 other aircraft.
The company manages 319 aircraft and 34 variants are on lease. However, as an aircraft lease, Ultavare is just a middleman and will not be the real company to operate what could be the world’s last generation Boeing 777–300er passenger jet. So, who is the real customer for this aircraft?

Mysterious Last 777-300er passenger customer
It is not clear what the production of the last 777-300er can be, what will be its end customer, because there is no information about that aircraft on Altavair’s website. However, Ethiopian Airlines is an airline that is still receiving 777-300ers and 777Fs. In February 2025, Ultavare reported on its contract to give a former-China Southern Airlines Boeing 777-300er to Ethiopian. The contract was sealed in December 2024.
In this infection, Altavaiir acted as Arrangers, Structure and Sevadars. Boeing manufactured the aircraft, was the Ethiopian lesser, and a fourth company called Marathon was a capital provider. Ethiopian Airlines is the largest airline in Africa and provides a large number of flights connecting the continent. The airline is also known for the operation of a large number of fifth-fridam flights. For example, those flying to various destinations within Africa will have a good chance to find themselves on the Ethiopian flight.

Making way for Boeing 777x
The industry is now preparing to get Boeing 777x, which comes in two passenger variants (777–8 and 777–9) and a Freater variants. A total of 521 firm orders have been placed. All these orders are from international customers, with no orders from the US-based airlines, as the aircraft is seen much larger for the US airline model. In particular, Ethiopian Airlines has given an order with options for eight examples of the large 777–9 models and options for.
About two-thirds of the orders for 777x are from three Middle Eastern operators, with the Emirates 204, Qatar Airways ordered 94, and Etihad made 25 orders of new aircraft. According to Boeing, 777x will be the world’s largest twin-engine jet that will offer 10% lower fuel use and 10% lower operating costs as compared to the competition. Only non-boiling aircraft that competes with 777x is the Airbus A350 family.
The Boeing 777-8 has two-class capacity of 395 passengers, while 777–9 has a two-sharing capacity of 426 passengers. Small 777-8 has a better range, capable of flying at a distance of 8,745 knots, while Boeing is available at a distance of 7,285 knots from a full tank of 777–9 gas.
Like the Boeing 737 Max 7 and Boeing Max 10, the introduction of 777x to replace the Boeing 777-300er, now appears out of production, is subject to obtaining its FAA type certificate. However, since concerns about 737 Max Crash and Boeing’s safety, FAA has delayed issuing such certificates for Boeing’s latest commercial aircraft.
