On a rainy Thursday on a rainy Thursday in East Lansing, the Washington basketball team of men was looking to put on a show after losing to a close contest against No. 13 Illinois on Jan. 5. This didn’t happen to No. 16. Michigan State.

The Huskies (10-6, 4-4 Big Ten) were not prepared for a wild fierce game played on the road. They were beaten by the Spartans (13-2, 4-1) Big Ten) started the day’s action with a 16-1 lead and continued to roar into the evening. When the game was over at halftime, the Spartans had a hefty 29-point advantage.

Although Washington scored 41 points during the second period, Michigan State kept pace. The final buzzer sounded in Breslin Center Breslin Center, there was a relief for UW that fell to MSU by 88-54.

Michigan State dominated in every one of the categories on the score sheet this evening. The team shot the ball better and rebounded it better, played better, and had the most stolen than Washington.

Washington had a hard time containing Michigan State’s elite guard pair; senior shooter Jaden Akins scored 20 points shooting 8-for-13 and sophomore points guard Jeremy Fears Jr. had the double-double, scoring 11 points as well as 10 assists. The guard who is freshmen Jess Richardson and junior guard Trey Holloman also scored in double figures, scoring 11 and 12 points, respectively.

On the other hand just one Washington player had a the double digits on Thursday. Small forward second-year Tyler Harris led the way in a losing effort, scoring 14 points on a dependable 5-for-10 shooting mark.

Washington is set to continue their trek throughout Michigan to play its next game. The team will travel toward Ann Arbor to face strong No. 24 Michigan on the Saturday of January. 11 starting at 11 a.m. at the Christer Center.
