I look at New Year’s resolutions for celebration in a different way

This year I set my New Year’s resolutions in a different way.

I fix it from the corner of my eye, I will see something new that will delight me.

  • I resolve to accept that some people will gain (temporary) power by ostracizing others, stoking fear, and racing to the bottom. I will not follow his example.
  • I resolve that what is obvious to everyone else will become obvious to me too.
  • I resolve to explain clearly about myself to others. This may also be clear to them.
  • I resolve not to be part of that pop-culture emergency that everyone is talking about, that is distracting me from real work.
  • I resolve to gain new strength and the ability to make even greater change.
  • I resolve to believe that what everyone fears will not come true.
  • I resolve to continue my long-term climb toward connection, dignity, and possibility. slowly but surely.
  • Opportunities will be missed. Lessons will be learned.
  • I resolve to say or write something that will shine a light, open a door, make a connection, and reveal the truth.
  • I resolve to accept that nothing will ever be as perfect as I initially imagined. However, many things would be much better.
  • I resolve to take the leap.
  • I pledge to exceed expectations.
  • I resolve to look for new ways to make my projects successful.
  • I will start something. Leave something else.
  • I resolve to keep helping myself. Nobody else does this either.
  • I know I will forget some hard lessons but I will also learn some new ones.
  • I pledge to work with airlines, hotels, rental cars and travel providers, not against them, when it feels right to do so.

A very safe list, because of course, it happens all the time.

Also, I resolve to start playing guitar and piano again. Playing both was an endless source of joy for others and me. I as a participant want to again experience the unity and expression that only comes through music. This resolution is not so certain, but writing it down makes it more certain.
