Booking of a river cruise is quite different from an ocean cruise. I have a dozen mistakes for you that help make sure that you will have a top quality river cruise experience.
A river cruise can be a beautiful and easy way to travel between interesting cities and other sites, while giving them enough time to experience. While booking a river cruise, especially the first time river cruise, there are mistakes that choose and book many cruises. If you are an experienced ocean/marine cruiser, some of what you have learned does not apply to some river cruise options. So I have a dozen mistakes that you need to escape while planning and booking a river cruise.
Mistake #1 – Priority to Cruise Boat:
Many ocean cruisers mainly choose cruise for ship and many of its attractions. As a result, some cruiser also live on ship in ports. Cruise ships going to Ocean are much larger than river cruise boats. River cruise boats do not have many dining rooms, entertainment, including some, broadway-style shows, spas, large fitness centers, running tracks, many stores, large pools, casinos and other attractions that are near ocean cruise ships. The river cruises focus on interesting journey programs and excursions. They prioritize the discovery of local scenes, sightseeing and culture, through which they are hovering.
Therefore, river cruisers should focus on where their river cruise boats travel and on which destinations they stop for cruisers, either on a tour or on their own. Unlike the cruises of the ocean, you are close to the land, which is very good to allow you to connect to local culture and sites. When choosing a river cruise, you should keep it in mind.
When booking the river cruise, do not ignore the cruise extensions that will allow you to detect cities at the beginning and end, as well as understand the difference between balconies on the sea and river cruises before spending on one.
Mistake #2 – ignoring potential cruise extension:
While the ports of emerging and debraction for ocean cruises can be very little interest, so that many ocean cruisers fly near them and go straight to the ship, most of the time, river cruises begin and stop in remarkable cities with magnificent cities and culture that should never be ignored.

On better river cruise boats, the outer wall of the cabins has lots of glass for amazing scenes. If you get a balcony, they are usually very small, nothing like ocean cruise ship balconies.
If you want to separate on your cabin, go for people with glass walls from floor to roof. Or reserve a cabin with a “French balcony”. “French balconies” are large glass doors or wall-to-wall windows that are open to give you fresh air and feel a balcony without tables and chairs. You get fresh air and great view. On some new ships, in particular, they are great.
If you are possible, at least expensive river cruise boat should avoid the cabin, and make sure about pickup and drop-off locations for your tour.
Mistake #4 – Cheapest Cabin Booking:
On an ocean cruise ship, at least expensive cabins typically provide you with access to all dining rooms and features that the ship has to introduce. Small cabins, but not the cheapest, are still appropriate in size on the ship. On river cruise boats, cheap cabins are normally very small and almost no visual. Meanwhile, the cost of many cabins with “French balconies” is not almost as extra as you can think.
Mistake #6 – Assuming that your tour will bring you back where it raises you:
Some off-boat tour, especially bus traveling for a long time, can pick you up at a port stop and leave you on the next. This would mean that you will remember the part of the sightseeing of the cruise, which may make any difference for you. This may not be important for you, as the tour can be very special, but you should know about it.
The best river cruise experience is possible to leave the edge walks and bring comfortable shoes.
Mistake #7 – Do not leave the shore journey:
If you are on the cruises of the sea and had a bad experience on some of their visits, in which a vision (s) is tried together with many bus loads, then the river is unlikely to be on a cruise tour. You can last for several hours. You need comfortable fabrics, especially shoes for the river revolutions.
River cruise boats are small. Do not assume that you can eat alone, buy shops on the boat or that WiFi will always work.
Mistake #9 – Assuming that you can eat on your own table:
River cruise boats have a lot of dining venue nor have a lot of tables for two/one. Usually, you are going to sit with other passengers, of which you met a few days later, while others are stranger. Sometimes other people are compatible on the table, but sometimes they are stretched. It is above you to meet others and make arrangements to sit together. In some cases, river cruise boats are growing up on some rivers and can give you more food options.
Mistake #10 – Assuming that there are shops on the boat:
Unlike the cruise ships going to Ocean, the river cruise boat does not have a lot of shops, and if you leave something at home, you will almost always need to take time to buy a replacement ash.
Mistake #11 – Flight in the day of ambarkation:
Like the ocean hovering, it is a serious mistake that it is a serious mistake to fly during the day. Sometimes aircraft flights are canceled or late and you miss cruise. Just as important, you will miss the opportunity to find out what is a great city for search and excursion and the entire cost of reaching the next port will be completely yours.
Mistake #12 – Assuming WiFi always works:
Generally, WiFi is independent on river cruise boats, but mostly on boats on most rivers, it comes according to the area around the river and how long you are remote. River boat lines are getting better in maintaining high speed internet, but you cannot trust it.
